The City of Mantova, one of the pilot cities of the EUCItyCalc project, is working to become carbon neutral in 2050, experimenting climate change mitigation and adaptation solutions in coordination with surrounding cities.

The city is working to define and implement a new model of sustainable urban development building, on the value of its many assets developing a more integrated policy-making approach, working transversally across city departments and with increased public participation.

To reach the ambitious climate neutrality goal, citizens’ participation and engagement is crucial. The city of Mantova has started a co-creation process involving stakeholders representing different sectors and interested in contributing to the process.

The session has been the occasion to present the projects the Municipality is implementing  for reducing greenhouse gas emissions and to boost its climate transition. In this framework, the City showed the European City Calculator Tool, presenting its great potential in supporting cities in their decision making and in the implementation of their climate strategy.

The meeting represented the beginning of an important process of citizens’ engagement and participation.
