Towards the co-creation process: Palmela, Setúbal and Sesimbra get on board!

by | Apr 6, 2023 | News | 0 comments

The EuCity Calc project is moving forward in Portugal. ENA’s staff met with representatives of Setúbal, Palmela, and Sesimbra, the 3 pilot cities committed to adopt the EU City Calculator to achieve climate neutrality by 2050.

The aim of the meeting was to organize the forthcoming co-creation process, that will involve key local stakeholders in expert working groups. Local authorities emphasised how the EUCityCalc project is helping them to design strategies to become climate neutral through scientifically robust, detailed, and integrated climate transition roadmaps, in line with the EU goals and the National Roadmap for Carbon Neutrality 2050. Moreover, municipalities highlighted the importance to include in the process the voice of local people: They can bring to light the needs of the territory.

In the next months, the co-creation process will end in a decarbonisation roadmap drafted in collaboration with key local stakeholders and expert groups.

ENA will support Setúbal, Palmela and Sesimbra in this collaboration process to meet the Portuguese Climate Framework Law. Thanks to this work, the cities will be able to draft the Municipal Climate Action Plan by February 2024.
