Start using the European City Calculator today!
Over the past 3 years, we have strived to support the development of an innovative modelling tool aimed at helping local authorities test low-carbon measures.
Now that the project comes to an end, we are pleased to announce that it has achieved its mission: the European City Calculator is a valuable and free tool that several public authorities are already using to pave their way towards climate neutrality.
In addition to working on this innovative webtool, the project enabled partners to engage with relevant stakeholders and to make public authorities’ voices heard by their government. Moreover, several new local authorities joined the learning programme to learn to maximise the benefits of the European City Calculator.
Even though the project is over, its legacy will last for years! Indeed, you can use the European City Calculator and contribute to its ongoing improvement and updates!
Moreover, the learning programme will be available again in autumn 2024 under a new EU-funded project: SPARKLE.
The European City Calculator: Prospective modelling tool supporting public authorities in reaching climate neutrality
The EUCityCalc project aims to support cities in developing and implementing scientifically robust, detailed, and integrated transition pathways towards climate neutrality. The project adopts the prospective modelling approach of the EU City Calculator webtool, an open-source tool providing cities with a sectoral outlook on the type and ambition of measures they can take to achieve a transition towards climate neutrality. The model supports cities in designing tailored transition pathways and policy scenarios. EUCityCalc supports 10 pilot cities: Riga, Dijon Métropole, Mantova, Zdar, Palmela, Sesimbra, Setubal, Koprivnica, Varazdin, Virovitica – in developing and implementing pathways and scenarios towards climate neutrality.
